Akron's King James Classic

More than 500 amateur basketball teams have converged on Akron this weekend for the third annual King James Shooting Stars Classic tournament, an event organized by Dru Joyce II, who coached LeBron James from age 10 through his high school career at Akron's St. Vincent St. Mary High School.
The tournament, which last through Sunday, is hosted at the University of Akron, Kent State University, and dozens of Akron area schools. College coaches and scouts from 200 different colleges will be on hand to evalute players. 552 teams, from all 50 states plus Toronto and Montreal, are expected to compete on 77 courts.
The public is invited to watch the games. Weekend passes are $17 for adults and $15 for students and seniors. Daily passes are $10 for adults and $8 for students and seniors.
