Longtime PD Sportswriter, Chuck Heaton Dies at 90

Chuck Heaton, a sportswriter and columnist for the Cleveland Plain Dealer, died this morning after a short bout with pneumonia, the PD is reporting. Heaton, a 50-year veteran of the paper, received numerous honors for his coverage of the Cleveland Browns and other area sports. He was inducted into eight different halls of fame.

Heaton, a WWII veteran and graduate of John Carroll University and Lakewood High School, is survived by his wife, Cecilia, and five children, including PD entertainment writer, Michael Heaton and actress, Patricia Heaton.
