CMA's New Ingalls Research Library
Wednesday November 22, 2006
The first part of the Cleveland Museum of Art expansion project is open -- and it's a beauty. The Ingalls Research Library, located in the Marcel Breuer (1971) wing of the museum, is filled with light, soft oak woodwork and paneling, and spacious desk areas, complete with computer dataports and WiFi access. There are even Internet terminals if you forgot your laptop. The new library features a large central reading room (pictured at left) that seats 80 to 100 people as well as a reference room, containing the museum's microfilm and photo collections and a large selection of reference books. In addition, there is a smaller seminar room and a periodical room with scores of art publications from around the world.
The Ingalls library is open to the general public on Wednesdays from 10am to 9pm. On Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, the library is open to museum members, CWRU students and faculty, and researchers from 10am to 5pm. The library is accessible by elevator from the museum's main lobby. It's well worth a visit.
