Ohio to Become Smoke-Free December 8
Thursday November 9, 2006
The voters have spoken and Ohio's public spaces will become smoke-free, beginning December 8, 2006. The statute applies to enclosed bars, restaurants, and bingo halls as well as any other space with public access. Very few exceptions exist. They include designated hotel rooms, designated areas within nursing homes, and smoking rooms in tobacco shops. Businesses, not individuals, will be fined for violations.
Opponents fear that the new rules will hurt restaurant and bar business, but I confess that I avoid several former favorite establishments because they are just too smokey. If New York City can live through this, I guess Ohio can, too.

I am happy - while I do not oppose anyone smoking if they so chose, smoke gives me headaches and headaches while one eats is never good. I just moved back to Ohio from FL and they passed the same laws. Everyone grunted and groaned but they are all still living too.
