The Maverick - Cedar Point Announces Plans for its 17th Coaster

Thursday September 7, 2006
Cedar Point, the area amusement park located in Sandusky on the banks of Lake Erie, announced this morning its plans to build its 17th roller coaster. The new thrill ride, to be called "The Maverick," is planned to open with the 2007 season in May and will be located in the Frontiertown section of the park.

The new coaster will be 4450-feet long with a 105-foot high first hill and lots of thrills, including a darkenend tunnel, several inversions, and lots of "air time." The ride will reach speeds of 70 mph.

Fans can keep track of the ride's construction with a special "Maverick" webcam.
