Events for Cleveland Theater Fans
Wednesday March 22, 2006
Cleveland's Playhouse Square is the nation's second largest theater district (behind New York's Broadway) in number of productions annually.
Down the road, the Cleveland Playhouse (pictured at right) is the nation's oldest regional theater and still a mecca for new talent as well as experienced theater professionals.
March and April boast a myriad of stage productions to delight theater fans. The Cleveland Playhouse is offering Well, a play about the often tumultuous relationship between a woman and her mother, thru March 26 as well as Dream a Little Dream, a musical tribute to the 60s musical group the "Mamas and the Papas," from March 31 thru April 5. At Playhouse Square, theatergoers can delight in the colorful musical, Bombay Dreams, about hopes and dreams in the Indian film industry. At the Beck Center in Lakewood, you can enjoy the hilarious (and just slightly naughty) The Full Monty, about a group of out-of-work Brits who find an inventive way to make money, playing thru April 9. Whichever you choose, get out and enjoy Cleveland's diverse and talented theater community. Read more about these events and more in the March and April events calendars.

The ‘photo at right,’ which you state in your Cleveland Blog of March 22, 2006 , is NOT of The Cleveland Playhouse. It’s of the Palace Theater at Playhouse Square.
And while The Cleveland Playhouse may be the nation’s oldest regional theater, its claim to distinction is that it is the nation’s oldest _repertory_ theater.
And you’re writing advising people about where to go and what to do in Cleveland. A municipal revisionist—what a concept.
